What types of Dogi are available for purchase?

What length hakama belt should I order?
For those with a waist size of 85cm or more, our standard size hakama belt, 4m, may be too short.

Can Iwata Shokai embroider products?
Yes.

We can embroider in Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, English, and Numerals in Japanese Kai-sho(block) style, Japanese Gyo-sho(cursive) style, Block(English Alphabet) style, Cursive(English Alphabet, horizontal only)style.
We also offer a large variety of colors in which we can embroider.

Which products can be embroidered?
Dogi, Hakama, Belts, Weapon Cases, Furoshiki, Dogi Bags, and Tote Bags can be embroidered.

※If you wish to embroider a Chu-to case or Sho-to case, please contact us by Email, Phone, or Fax.
Does Iwata Shokai take custom orders for Dogi, Hakama, and belts?
Yes. We do take special orders but an additional fee will be incurred. Please see “Special Orders and Repairs
※Please note: Custom orders can not be placed online. Please contact us by Email, Phone, or Fax if you wish to place an order.
Can I have my dogi or hakama repaired?
Yes. We can repair Iwata dogi and hakama.
We are sorry but we can not repair non-Iwata goods.
For repairs, please check here Special Orders and Repairs.
To request repairs, please contact us by phone, FAX or, E-Mail.
Please note that in some cases repairs are not possible.
If upon examination of the article(s) we think this to be the case we will notify the customer.
What items can not be repaired?
We are sorry but weapons cases, bags (Dogi bags, Tote bags, etc), Furoshiki, Footwear(zori), and wooden weapons (Bokuto, etc) are not eligible for repair.
Additionally, Iwata Shokai reserves the right to refuse the repair of any item depending on the circumstances.
How do I wash my dogi?
Please see here for washing instructions for dogi.
How do I wash my hakama?
Please see here for washing instructions for hakama.
Will my dogi and hakama shrink after washing?
Yes. Both bleached and unbleached dogi will shrink after washing.
The amount that it shrinks varies based on the dogi model and material. Please see the "Reference Table" or individual product pages for details.
Though polyester hakama will not shrink(even if it shrinks, it is a little), cotton Hakama will shrink by washing. The amount that it shrinks varies based on the hakama material. Please see the "Reference Table" or individual product pages for details.
Can I mix and match the Jacket and Pants sizes for my dogi?
Yes. Please select and add each item individually to your shopping cart when ordering.
International Product price
International Orders include an additional packing fee.
We are sorry but Iwata Shokai cannot give an itemization of the additional shipping costs.
This is because the additional fee is not pre-set by the shipper but changes based on several variables out of our control (i.e. weight, destination, etc).

<Orders>
How do I choose the correct size for my dogi or hakama?
For dogi and hakama.Please check our size chart here.
Additionally, there is a size reference table under each product description.
If you require further assistance please contact us and provide your height and weight in cm. If sizing for a hakama, also provide your waist size.
About Dogi / About Hakama
※For the “waist” please provide the measurement for where you normally tie your hakama.
※For the obi, we also provide a guideline for determining the size.
Can purchases be made directly at the Iwata Shop?
Yes. Also, you can see our products and try them on as well if you visit us.
Our hours of operation are Monday-Saturday 9 AM- 7 PM Japan Standard Time. We are closed Sundays and all National Holidays.

How can I order other than E-Mail?
We also accept over-the-counter sale and orders by phone and Fax.
Do I have to become a member to make purchases?
No. It is not necessary to become a member to make purchase.
Can orders be placed from outside of Japan?
Yes. If the Online Store language is changed from Japanese to English International orders can be placed.
What should I do if I have not received a confirmation E-Mail?
please confirm that your order was completed and submitted.
If items are remaining in the shopping cart the order remains open. Additionally, please check your Spam folder/filters for iwataco@m13.alpha-net.ne.jp.
Members can check the “Order History” under “My Accounts”.
If you see the order and have not received a confirmation email please contact us.
If you wish to pick up at our shop please contact us directly by Phone, Fax, Email or here. 
I placed an item by mistake in the shopping cart. Can I remove it?
Yes.
In the shopping cart select “delete” for the item.
A confirmation message will appear.
Select “OK”.
How do I check if an item is in stock?
You can not check the inventory status of an item from our website. Please contact us from the “Inquiry Form” or directly by Email, Fax, or Telephone for such inquiries.
Can items be gift wrapped?
No we do not gift wrap. However, we do provide gift boxes for belts. Please select the option when ordering from the product page.
Gifts include embroidery, gift boxes (black belt A, B and C: Plus ,Aiki belt, Yui / Plus 700 yen). Noshi paper (free) is available.
Can I pick up my order at the Iwata Shop?
If items are ordered through the website they will be shipped by post.

What payment methods are available?
Bank Transfer, Credit Card, and Paypal are available.Cash on delivery

Which Credit Cards do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover Card, and JCB.
How is my Personally Identifiable Information, Credit Card information, etc stored.
All information is sent encrypted over SSL.
All member account information is password protected.
Please protect your password at all times.
Can I change the payment method after ordering?
Once an order has been placed the payment method can not be changed.
Can you issue a receipt?
If Paypal or a Credit Card is used for payment transaction confirmation will act as the receipt.
If a Bank Transfer is used and you wish a receipt, please contact us by the Inquiry Form, Phone, Fax, or Email.
Can I make payment at a Convenience Store?
No. We do not accept payments at convenience stores.
In Japan payment can be made by Credit Card, Paypal, or Bank Transfer. 
For International customers, payment can be made by Credit Card or Paypal.
What payment methods are accepted at the Iwata Shop?
We accept Cash and Credit Cards in the shop.

<Shipping>
How long do shipments take?
Items in stock with no embroidery will be shipped in approximately 2 business days.
Items in stock requiring embroidery will be shipped in approximately 5-7 business days.
Items currently not in stock, Special Orders, and Cotton Hakama (Custom Order) will require approximately 2-4 weeks.
Is it possible to specify a delivery date?
We are sorry but it is not possible to specify a delivery date.
Is it possible to change the delivery address?
Please enter the desired delivery address in the order form.
Can separate orders be shipped together?
No. If an order is placed through the website the shipping charge is added per order.
If you wish to combine multiple orders into one, please cancel the current order(s) and place it again as one.
Which shipping company is used for delivery?
For shipments in Japan ヤマト運輸(Yamato transport) is used.
For International shipments, EMS (Japan Post) or FedEx are used.
Can separate orders be shipped together?

Can deliveries be made to delivery boxes?
Yes. For deliveries in Japan.
if you wish it, please note it in the order memo.
How can I check the delivery status of my order?
When delivery is completed you will receive a delivery confirmation email.
A tracking number and other details will be provided in the email.
Please refer to the shipping company’s website to track.

Is there a fee to register as a “member”?
No. Registration is free.
Is it necessary to register as a member to use your site?
It is not necessary to register to order from our website. However there are many benefits to registering. (Eg Invites to special campaigns, member only coupons, etc) so we highly recommend it.
How can I see my registration details?
Please login and check “My Account”.
All registration details can be accessed there.
I would like to change my registration details. How can I do this?
Please login to your account and go to “My Account: Edit Account”.
You can make changes there. 
※Please be sure to hit “submit” after making edits. 
※Please note that no confirmation email is sent after edits to “My Account” 
I’ve forgotten my email address and/or password. What should I do?
If you don’t remember the email address used when registering, please contact us by Email, Phone, Fax or here if you have any additional questions.
If you’ve forgotten your password, please click “Forgot Password” on the login page and follow the instructions. 
What can I do in “My Account”?
You can view your order history, available coupons and points.
Please note that registration is necessary to access My Account.
Help! I can't log in.
First please confirm that the registration email and password are correct. If the email is correct try resetting the password.
If you don’t remember the email address used when registering, please contact us by Email, Phone, Fax or here if you have any additional questions.
I have not received a registration confirmation email. What should I do?
please first try to login with the email address and password with which you registered.
or  please check your spam folder.
If this fails, the registration process may not have been fully completed. 
try to resubmit your registration from the Registration Page.
Please be sure to click “Send” at the end of the registration page. 
If you still don’t receive a confirmation email.
Please contact Iwata Shokai directly for assistance.
Is it necessary to register to receive the mail magazine?
Yes. Only registered members can receive the email newsletter. Registration  will also  allow you to receive special campaign/sale notifications from Iwata Shokai.
How do I unsubscribe?
Please login and go to In “My Account.
Select “cancel your account” and follow the instructions.

<Coupons>
How do I use coupons?
Select an item and add it to your shopping cart.
Select the payment and delivery method and then proceed to the order confirmation page.
On the order confirmation page, there is a field to enter the coupon code.
Enter the coupon code and submit.
The discount will be applied and the payment amount will be recalculated.
Proceed with your purchase as normal.
Only one coupon per order.
Can I use the coupon at any time?
The coupon has an expiration date. It can be used at any time within the deadline. 
Can I use coupons if not a registered member?
No. Coupons are restricted to registered members.

We are a 105-year-old martial arts goods (dogi, hakama,  etc.) manufacturer.
