1916

Mankichi Iwata, while working at the Kodokan, began to make Judo-gi under the supervision of Jigoro Kano and founded "Iwata Ju-ken-Dogishokai"
(The shop was located inside Kodokan).

1937

Opened shop across from the Kodokan (Suidobashi).

1939

The founder Mankichi Iwata passed away.
His daughter Tsuru Iwata assumed the second presidency.

1941

Due to difficult times during the war, Iwata was temporarily closed.

1947

Resumed production.

1948

Opened shop in Hyakunincho, Shinjuku.

1954

Re-open shop in Suidobashi.

1956

Instructors from the Aikikai Foundation visit Iwata Shokai to request the manufacture of Aikido specific Dogi.
Started manufacturing of the first Aikido specific

1960

Ayako , the second daughter of Iwata Maikichi, assist the customer service, third daughter, Setsuko to help the factory.

Iwata Shokai Co., Ltd. established Capital 2 million yen

1990

Capital increased to 8 million yen

1994

Capital increased to 10 million yen

2005

The second president Tsuru Iwata passed away.
Her granddaughter Emi Iwata assumed the third presidency.

IWATA SHOKAI marked the centennial anniversary of our foundation
