About Dogi

Our Dogi is made of 100% cotton. There are 2 types:
"Kinari Dogi" (beige) are made from unprocessed cotton fabric.
Other products have been bleached pure white or are woven using bleached yarn.

Unbleached (Natural beige color)	Bleached (Pure white color)

Please wash before first use. No detergent necessary. Dogi will shrink to chart size.	Due to the bleaching process, minimal shrinkage occurs after washing. Dogi is the same as chart size. ・Caution We recommend hang drying our Dogi. If a dryer is used, shrinkage will occur in BOTH bleached and unbleached products. Additionally, any excessive drying can damage the cotton thereby reducing the lifespan of the Dogi.
"Kinari Dogi" (beige) are made from unprocessed cotton fabric. Other products have been bleached pure white or are woven using bleached yarn. In rare cases, some of the raw materials used to weave dogi have small discolorations. This is because we use raw cotton. Also, although less noticeable, bleached dogi may also show some of these naturally occurring patterns. This in no way indicates an inferior product nor does it negatively impact the durability or lifespan of the garment. We kindly ask for your understanding but since this is naturally occurring we can not accept returns/exchanges in these cases.

Features of Dogi

Sometimes there will be small specks or discolorations in some of the threads in the fabric.
This occurs during the processing of bleaching and weaving.
Please note: This is a rare occurrence and does not affect the quality or durability of the product. Please understand.

The Seam

In some products, we make a seam in the back.
By making the seam in the back, the Dogi will be stronger.
And by using more cloth with a seam, it may also solve the problem of the Dogi opening too much in the front.

The smallest size is 00.

【L・B size】
For sizes larger than size 2, we have "L" and "B" options.
・Size L (ex. In the case of 2L)
(Jacket) The shoulder to hem length and the width are same as size 2, but the sleeve length will be closer to the size 3.
(Pants) The width is the same as the size 2, but the waist to hem will be longer, closer to size 3.
・Size B (ex. In the case of 2B)
(Jacket) The overall width will be closer to size 3 but the sleeve length and shoulder to hem length are size 2.
(Pants) The length is the same as size 2, but the width will be wider, closer to size 3.

Please Note: 2L and 2B will be the same price as the size 3.

【Double Weave Dogi / Special Double Weave Dogi】
Size chart is based on Iwata Shokai's "Miyabi" or Single Weave Dogi.
If you wish to have a Double Weave/Special Double Weave Dogi fit the same as our Single Weave/Miyabi, we recommend going a half (1/2) to full size (1) down.
(e.g. If a size 4 double weave, consider selecting a size 3 or 3L in this table to get the same fit as a single weave.

Chest Tie

To prevent the Jacket from opening, we can attach a tie to the chest if requested.
This is primarily used by women but can be added to mens Jacket as well.

Antibacterial Treatment

Due to circumstances at our processing plant, we will no longer offer the antimicrobial treatment service for GI S-UB, S-B, and MIYABI.

The service will be discontinued as soon as the current stock runs out.

Laundry and Care

***Do not use bleach***
Cotton is damaged by bleach. Please avoid using it.

[Caution:
Please do not put detergent directly onto the Dogi when washing as it will cause discoloration.
Use the washing machine detergent dispenser or make sure that detergent is dissolved.
Please rinse well. Any residual detergent will damage the cloth and reduce the durability of the Dogi.
We recommend dry hanging the Dogi. If a dryer is used shrinkage will occur. This includes BOTH bleached and unbleached products.
Additionally, any excessive drying can damage the cotton reducing the lifespan of the Dogi.]
